Chicken Souvlaki Recipe

Chicken souvlaki

We've made this classic Greek fast food dish lighter by using chicken breast rather than thighs, and skewering it with lots of veg

  • skinless chicken breast fillets 2, cut into chunks
  • garlic 1 clove, crushed
  • lemon 1, 1/2 juiced and zested, 1/2 cut into wedges
  • dried oregano 1 tsp
  • olive oil 2 tsp
  • green pepper 1, cut into chunks
  • red onion 1 small, cut into wedges
  • flatbreads 2, griddled
  • salad leaves to serve


  • Step 1

    Put the chicken, garlic, lemon juice and zest, oregano and olive oil into a bowl. Season well then toss together and leave for 30 minutes.

  • Step 2

    Thread the chicken onto skewers with pieces of pepper and onion in between. Griddle or grill until golden and cooked through.

  • Step 3

    Serve on a flatbread with some salad and a couple of lemon wedges for squeezing.
