Spiced courgette chutney

This recipe for spiced courgette chutney is really easy to make and produces a chunky, vibrant chutney that's a great accompaniment to many dishes and also makes a lovely gift.



  • onions 2, chopped
  • tomatoes 500g, chopped
  • brown sugar or mixed spice or mustard seeds or ginger or garlic crushed
  • courgettes 500g, diced
  • white wine vinegar 300ml
  • Granny Smith apples 2, peeled and diced


  • Step 1

    Put all the ingredients in a large pan. Bring slowly to a simmer, stirring to stop the mixture sticking. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 hours until dark, thick and chutney-like. Pour into sterilised jars and leave for 2-3 weeks before eating.
