Try this Christmas spritz, then check out our sloe gin fizz, Christmas spiced negroni and more Christmas cocktails.

A spritz is a classic summer cocktail but a few simple tweaks can turn it into a delicious Christmas aperitif. We swapped the usual sparkling water for warming ginger beer, and added lots of seasonal garnishes like pomegranate, orange and whole spices. Swap the Aperol for Campari if you'd like a spritz with a more bittersweet character.

  • 60ml Aperol or Campari
  • 90ml sparkling wine
    chilled
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • ginger beer
    to top up
  • orange wedge, rosemary sprig, star anise and pomegranate seeds
    to garnish

    Method

    • step 1

Add the Aperol to a chilled wine glass filled with ice followed by the sparkling wine and bitters. Top with the ginger beer and gently mix to combine. Garnish with orange, star anise and pomegranate seeds.
