Make your own oat milk

  • makes about 500ml
  • Easy

An easy, creamy milk alternative for vegans - simply use rolled oats and water, blend together and strain through a muslin. To keep it vegan, use maple syrup as a sweetener

To make your own oat milk, you will need:

  • rolled or jumbo oats 100g
  • maple syrup or honey 1 tsp

  • Step 1

Blitz rolled or jumbo oats, maple syrup or honey and 250ml water for 30 seconds (any longer and the mixture will become slimy) in a blender or food processor. Strain through muslin or cheesecloth (you may want to do this twice), discarding the purée. Taste the oat milk and add more syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink, or add more water if you prefer a thinner consistency. Shake or stir before drinking.
