Make your own almond milk

  • makes about 500ml
  • Easy

This super-easy milk alternative is great to splash over cereals or add to your morning tea or coffee. To keep it vegan, use maple syrup as a sweetener

To make your own almond milk, you will need:

  • blanched almonds 250g
  • maple syrup or honey 1 tsp

  • Step 1

Soak the blanched almonds in water overnight. Drain, then blitz with 500ml water and maple syrup or honey in a blender or food processor until smooth. Strain through muslin or cheesecloth (you may want to do this twice), discarding the purée. Taste the almond milk and add more syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink, or add more water if you prefer a thinner consistency. Shake or stir before drinking.
