Make this smoked salmon pâté for an impressive starter, then also try our classic smoked mackerel pâté, tuna niçoise pâté, chicken liver pâté and mushroom pâté.


  • 250g hot smoked salmon, flaked
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 100g cream cheese
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • a handful watercress
  • 3 wholemeal bagels
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • sea salt flakes


  • STEP 1

    Put the salmon, butter, cream cheese, lemon juice and watercress in a food processor and whizz until roughly blended.

  • STEP 2

    Halve the bagels then slice thinly. Drizzle with olive oil and sea salt and bake at 190c/fan 170c/gas 5 for 10-15 minutes or until crisp. Serve with the pâté.
