What is harissa paste?

Harissa is a North African paste made from soaked chilli peppers blended with coriander, caraway, garlic, salt and olive oil. Harissa ranges in flavour from mild to extremely hot. It can be used as a condiment, dip or marinade, or stirred into stews, soups and sauces for a flavour boost.
