This our ultimate version of a New York favourite. In just 10 minutes you can be enjoying that salty beef, tangy sauerkraut and melting cheese – perfect for an indulgent supper for one.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices rye bread
  • 80g sliced pastrami
  • 2 slices emmental
  • 2 tbsp sauerkraut
  • butter
  • to serve dill pickles

DRESSING

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp horseradish sauce
  • ½ tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 spring onion, very finely chopped

Method

  • STEP 1

    Mix all the dressing ingredients together.

  • STEP 2

    Spread one side of the bread with dressing then pile on the pastrami, cheese and sauerkraut. Top with the other slice of bread. Spread the outside of the sandwich with butter, then fry in a hot non-stick pan until the outside is golden and toasted and the cheese has begun to melt. Serve with pickles.
