Winter Waldorf salad

This is the perfect winter salad as celery, apples and walnuts are all well in season now so you’ll get a lovely sweet crunchy result. Serve as a dinner-party starter or if you want to upgrade it to a more substantial meal, add some cooked, shredded chicken.

Ingredients

  • apples 2 red skinned, such as Cox’s or Braeburn
  • lemon ½, juiced
  • mayonnaise 4 tbsp
  • Dijon mustard 1 tbsp
  • celery 2 stalks, cut into chunks
  • walnuts a handful
  • watercress a couple of handfuls

Method

  • Step 1

    Cut the apple into chunks and toss with the lemon juice. Mix together the mayonnaise and mustard and toss with all the other ingredients.
