Love coffee? Turn it into an evening treat with this rich, syrupy concoction made with brown sugar, strong black coffee and vanilla extract

To make your strong coffee, you can either use a bean to cup coffee machine, or buy good-quality coffee beans and grind with our pick of the best coffee grinders.


  • 250g brown sugar
  • 250ml strong black coffee
  • ½-1 tsp (optional) vanilla extract


  • STEP 1

    In a pan, combine the sugar and coffee over a gentle heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla, if using.

  • STEP 2

    Cool completely and sieve into a sterilised bottle or jar. Keep in the fridge for up to a month.
