What is mead?

Mead, also known as honey wine, is an ancient alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with water but can also include herbs and spices. It traditionally has an ABV slightly lower than wine. Although made with honey, mead can be dry as well as sweet, and it comes in both sparkling and still varieties.
