Pasta and sauce all cooked in one pot? Sounds mad but it works! Try Sabrina Fauda-Rôle's tomato and basil pasta recipe (taken from her book, One-Pot Pasta) tonight.

This one-pot tomato pasta recipe is adapted from One-Pot Pasta: from pot to plate in under 30 minutes by Sabrina Fauda-Rôle (£7.99, Hardie Grant).

Ingredients

  • 350g  linguine
  • 250g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, very thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, very thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • a good pinch chilli flakes
  • 4 sprigs  basil

Method

  • STEP 1

    Put all the ingredients into a large saucepan, in the listed order, with 1 tsp salt, a grind of black pepper and 900ml water.

  • STEP 2

    Cook for 15 minutes over a medium heat, stirring regularly until the pasta is cooked and the cooking water has reduced to a sauce.
