Tasty idea for sirloin that doesn't need fries. This Asian-inspired steak supper is served with a sweet and sour cucumber salad, with a kick from dried chilli flakes. Serve with basmati rice for a more substantial meal for two.

- 1 large or 2 small sirloin steaktrimmed of all fat
- oil
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar or cider vinegar
- 2 tsp golden caster sugar
- a pinch chilli flakes
- a bunch corianderchopped
- ½ cucumbercut into strips with a potato peeler
- a handful cherry tomatoeshalved
- rice to serve steamed basmati

Method
step 1
Rub the steak with a little oil. Heat a non-stick pan and cook for 2 minutes each side for rare, 3 for medium. Leave to rest for 5 minutes. In a small saucepan, heat the vinegar and sugar until the sugar dissolves. Add the chilli flakes and coriander and pour over the cucumber and tomatoes. When the steak has rested, slice and serve on top of the cucumber with basmati rice.
