  • 400g pork mince
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion
    grated
  • a handful dill
    finely chopped, plus extra to serve
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 4 tbsp soured cream
    seasoned
  • to serve crusty bread

CUCUMBER SALAD

  • 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1/2 cucumber
    peeled and cut into half-moons
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
  • a handful parsley
    chopped

Method

  • step 1

    To make the cucumber salad, heat the vinegar and sugar in a small pan until the sugar dissolves. Cool, then put the cucumber in a bowl and pour over the liquid, add the mustard seeds and toss. Leave to sit while you make the meatballs. Stir in the parsley just before serving.

  • step 2

    Heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Mix the first 7 ingredients together and season. Roll into 20 meatballs.

  • step 3

    Put the meatballs in a dish and into the oven. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Drizzle with the soured cream and scatter with dill. Serve with the salad and bread.
