Chocolate Churros Recipe

Churro waffle fingers with dipping sauce

This recipe sees waffles coated in cinnamon butter and served with chocolate sauce for dipping – think eggs and soldiers-style



  • golden caster sugar 3 tbsp
  • ground cinnamon 1 tsp
  • butter 25g, melted
  • sweet toasting waffles 4


  • double cream 100ml
  • whole milk 50ml
  • golden syrup 3 tbsp
  • cocoa powder 2 tbsp
  • milk chocolate 75g, broken into chunks


  • Step 1

    To make the chocolate sauce, put the cream, milk and golden syrup into a small pan and whisk in the cocoa powder. Keep whisking over a gentle heat until the sauce begins to bubble, then whisk in the chocolate chunks to melt. Take off the heat.

  • Step 2

    Mix the sugar and cinnamon together on a plate, and have a pastry brush ready for the melted butter. Toast the waffles following pack instructions then, as each is done, quickly brush with a layer of melted butter and sprinkle over some of the cinnamon sugar to coat.

  • Step 3

    Cut into fingers and serve with a pot of the chocolate sauce for dipping.
