Vegan hot chocolate

This dairy-free hot chocolate is silky, sweet and topped with whipped plant-based cream – use oat or almond milk alternatives in this warming drink



  • dairy-free milk 200ml (oat or almond work well)
  • cocoa 1 tbsp, plus a dusting
  • maple syrup ½-1 tbsp
  • whippable plant-based cream 2 tbsp


  • Step 1

    Put the milk, cocoa and maple syrup in a small pan and whisk over a low heat for 2 minutes until smooth and steaming.

  • Step 2

    Pour the hot chocolate into a warmed mug, then top with the cream and a dusting of cocoa to serve.
