Roast beef, mustard and watercress sandwiches

This classic combination of Dijon mustard and beef alongside pickled walnut and watercress crème fraîche is perfect for a grown up afternoon tea.



  • butter 50g
  • brown bread 6 slices
  • roast beef 3 slices, finely chopped
  • pickled walnut 1 mashed (optional)
  • watercress a handful, finely chopped
  • crème fraîche 1 tbsp
  • Dijon mustard 2 tsp


  • Step 1

    Butter the bread and divide the beef between 3 slices. Add pickled walnut (if using).

    Mix the watercress and crème fraîche, season and spread on top.

    Add mustard to the remaining bread, top, trim the crusts and cut into 3 fingers.
