  • 4 slices crusty white bread
  • 4 tbsp marmalade
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp crème fraîche
    plus extra to serve
  • 1 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 1 orange
    zested, plus 2 tsp juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Method

  • step 1

    Sandwich each pair of bread slices with 2 tbsp of marmalade.

  • step 2

    In a large, shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, crème fraîche, sugar, orange zest and juice.

  • step 3

    Melt the butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Dip both sandwiches in the egg mixture, then flip so that both sides are soaked. Fry for a minute on each side until the outside is golden brown. Halve and serve with big spoonfuls of crème fraîche.
