Make the perfect stylish supper with this glazed steak recipe. Sirloin is fried in balsamic for a sticky sweet finish. Serve green beans cooked in garlic and cloves on the side.

  • olive oil
  • garlic 2 cloves, sliced
  • plum tomatoes 1 tin
  • cloves 4
  • green beans 150g
  • sirloin steaks 2, all fat trimmed off
  • balsamic vinegar 2 tbsp


  • Step 1

    Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan. Add the garlic and sizzle for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cloves and simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened. Fish out the cloves then add the beans with a splash of water and cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.

  • Step 2

    Heat a frying pan until it’s smoking hot. Season the steaks well then sear for 1 minute on each side. Add the balsamic to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds on each side. Rest for 3-4 minutes. Pile up the beans and sauce on two plates. Thickly slice the steak and put on top of the beans.
