Ham and kale gratin

One of our best quick fix recipes, it's on the table in 30 minutes - perfect for a weeknight meal! This gratin uses rigatoni and is full of flavour thanks to mascarpone, parmesan and mustard.



  • rigatoni 350g
  • kale 200g, shredded
  • butter 1 tbsp
  • flour 2 tbsp
  • milk 500ml
  • mascarpone 4 tbsp
  • Dijon mustard 2 tsp
  • cooked ham 4 thick slices, cut into strips
  • grated parmesan 3 tbsp


  • Step 1

    Cook the pasta and drain well. Simmer the kale in boiling water for 1-2 minutes until wilted.

    Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small pan and stir in the flour, add the milk gradually to make a white sauce and bubble for a minute.

    Season well and add the mascarpone and mustard. Lay the kale in the base of a gratin dish and tip in the pasta.

    Add the ham, stir once, then pour over the sauce. Dust the top with the parmesan and grill until bubbling.
