Get dinner on the table in less than half an hour with this quick and tasty lamb burger pittas. Houmous and bulgur wheat score very well on the GI scale, making this a healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • bulgar or wheat 4 tbsp
  • lamb or mince 150g
  • ground or cumin 1 tsp
  • oil
  • onion 1, cut into thick slices
  • wholemeal or pitta 2 toasted
  • houmous or tzatziki to serve
  • green or salad or leaves to serve

Method

  • Step 1

    Cook the bulgar wheat in simmering water for 5 minutes or until tender. Rinse in cold water and drain. Mix with the lamb mince and ground cumin and season well. Shape into 4 large or 8 small patties.

    Heat a little oil in a frying pan and cook the patties and onion rounds in a single layer. The lamb will need about 4-5 minutes on each side but the onion may cook a little quicker. Stuff the pitta with the lamb burgers and onions and serve with houmous or tzatziki and a few salad leaves.
