Alejandro Ruiz launches new menu at Wahaca

Alejandro Ruiz, head chef at Casa Oaxaca, and Thomasina Miers have launched a supper club and new menu at the Covent Garden branch of Wahaca. Read all about it here...

One of the great things about Mexican food is its clever spicing. The menu at Wahaca Covent Garden (pictured above) is set to get even hotter, however, on February 10 when star Mexican chef Alejandro Ruiz swings into town.


Manning the kitchen alongside co-founder Thomasina Miers for a special one-off supper club, the evening will be the first in Wahaca Covent Garden’s 2015 ‘Culinary Trip through Mexico’ series, which will showcase the country’s food scene as well as tie in with the Year of Mexico in the UK, which 2015 has been designated by the countries’ respective governments.

Alejandro is head chef of Casa Oaxaca and famed for local, seasonal dishes such as slow-braised meats. The bad news for British fans is that the supper club sold out within three hours of its launch. But there is good news; from 11 February for the following eight weeks Wahaca Covent Garden diners will be able to try his menu. And there will be more star-name supper clubs to follow, not least one hosted by Enrique Olvera of Mexico City restaurant Pujol. 


Keep an eye out too for the series’ finale. No details have been released yet but it’s set to be the biggest Day of the Dead party in the UK.
