I’ve never really identified as a whisky lover. With so many powerful flavours going on it can be quite a challenging spirit with a fan club that can be even harder to get in to. But, thankfully, whisky is shedding its stuffy reputation and becoming altogether more contemporary.
If you’ve always been curious but have had no idea where to start, The London Whisky Weekender is for you; a three-day festival celebrating the best of all things whisky, you’ll be given the chance to taste drams from all over the world. An incredible 20 distilleries will be bringing over 120 varieties of whisky to the Oval Space, east London, with experts on hand to explain exactly what makes their whisky so delicious.
Tickets cost £35pp and include a tasting glass, festival guide, drams (in moderation) as well as access to some pretty special pop-ups including a Jameson and Beavertown Brewery takeover of The Pickle Factory; think picklebacks, live music and an all-day BBQ, and the Blitz whisky terrace where you can sample some rare pre-1945 drams overlooking one of the last Blitz sites in London. Make sure to grab some extra tokens and sample the special ‘under the counter drams’ at selected stands, too.
Visit the Whisky Weekender website for the full list of exhibitors and to buy tickets. 1-3 April, 29-32 The Oval London,E2
