Spiced sugar crust apple pies

This has to be our best apple pie recipe, and the recipe is super easy. These individual sugar crust pies with spiced apples are topped with a lattice of sweet pastry. Irresistible!

Ingredients

  • sweet pastry 375g sheet, cut into 1cm strips
  • egg or milk
  • demerara sugar 2 tbsp
  • apples 2-3, large cooking
  • caster sugar 150g
  • allspice 1/2 tsp

Method

  • Step 1

    Heat the oven to 190c/fan 170c/gas 5.

    Divide the apple mixture among 4 individual ovenproof pie dishes.

    Use the pastry strips to make a lattice on each pie and glaze with the egg mix.

    Bake for 20-30 minutes until golden and crisp (sprinkle a little demerara sugar over for the last 5 minutes).
