Richard Woods is head of spirit and cocktail development at high-rise restaurant and bar Duck and Waffle. He’s created a Nutella Negroni (£14) on the menu from today, World Nutella Day, until the end of February.
This is very much one NOT to try at home, as it involves making a Nutella gin as its base, which Rich makes in his own kitchen still.
So when should you drink it, before or after dinner? Richard suggests both would be ok: “Born from the nostalgia of a childhood classic, this juxtaposed twist on a negroni blurs the aperitif and digestif lines. Created by adding two different distillations of Nutella to a blend of Amaro and vermouth, this modern twist is both nutty and chocolaty whilst retaining the characteristic bitter and sweet notes of a Negroni.”
